As manufacturers of packaged foods work to remove hydrogenated oil from their products, so the 'fat food' and 'food service' sector is contributing a higher proportion of the trans fat in our diets. Unlike producers of packaged foods, they do not have to declare the ingredients of their products, so they are immune from market pressures to remove hydrogenated oils from them. tfX now aims to focus increasingly on the role of fast food and food service companies in poisoning us, and our children, with trans fats.
- McDonalds - one of the world's biggest food companies, uses partially hydrogenated oil with a 15 percent trans fat content for frying in its UK branches.
